A new river-specific international journal launched

Rivers, the cradle of human civilizations, provide us tremendous water, transportation, energy, recreation, and other resources. Over the recent years, it has been commonly understood that rivers not only constitute a precious resource in their own right, but are also an indispensable part of a sustainable future for nature and for human society.

To deliver up-to-date knowledge and practices on rivers and their ecosystems and to shed light on sustainable river governance, on August 24, IWHR hosted the Global River Forum in an online-offline-combined manner.




The Forum featured opening address from five distinguished guests:

The Forum is also a celebration of the launch of the inauguration of River, a brand-new journal hosted by IWHR and published in collaboration with Wiley Publishing Group.

This open-access international journal features multi-disciplinary, multi-sector and multi-issues research about river systems worldwide. It welcomes original research findings about, but not limited to, the nature, engineering, intelligence and governance of rivers, from both natural and social perspectives.
