2015-09-28

The ribbo-cutting ceremony for the new facility takes place.

Envisan, part of the Jan de Nul group, has opened a new treatment facility in France. The opening ceremony was attended by local and regional politicians, representatives of the Sedimed research project and co-funders.

Envisan France's Eco-Materials Production Centre at La Seyne-sur-Mer is the first centre of its kind in the Mediterranean area.

“We are proud to introduce in France a new response for the treatment of contaminated sediments and soils,” said Walter De Jonghe, Director Envisan. “The mission of our new processing centre is the treatment of sediment originating from dredging operations, as well as polluted soils from groundwork for the construction and public works sector.”

The new facility will make use of the company's experience in Belgian, where legislation allows for sediments to be upgraded for use in the construction industry.

The centre is built on a 3.4 hectare site and can handle up to 160,000m³ of materials per year and is designed to meet all applicable environmental protection standards and complies with the strictest traceability requirements. The centre is also fitted with its own water treatment plant.
