His main research interests focus on the theories and application technologies of mechanics of sediment transport, fluvial process, and river channel regulation. He has chaired and involved in more than 100 research projects supported by National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), National Key Technology R&D Program (from 8th to 12th Five-year Plan), National Natural Science Foundation of China, and other international collaboration and ministerial/provincial projects. He has published more than 260 journal papers and 10 specialized publications. He has received many Awards from the Chinese Government, such as 3 items of Second Level Prize of the National Awards for Science and Technology Progress, and 12 items of ministerial/provincial level prize of the awards for Science and Technology Progress. He is Winners of the Special government allowances of the State Council, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Science & Technology Award for Young Talents, the Qian Ning Prize for Erosion and Sedimentation Technology, and he was selected as an honoree for the “National Thousands of Talents Project in the New Century”.
