On the morning of August 9 and August 10, participants for the WASER/IAHR-APD/IRTCES Study Tour to the TGP visited TGP dam and TGP Museum. Prof. Wang Rushu and Ms. Pan Zhanhui, International Cooperation Division of China TGP Corporation gave explaination about the questions raised from the participants .

The first tentative idea of TGP came from the first president of China, Mr. Sun Yet-san. The objective and principal benefits of the project is flood control, power generation and navigation improvement.

The newly progress of the project include completed structures in use; construction of RCC cofferdam; construction of the right intake dam; construction of the right powerhouse; Quality control and safety control.
