Three Distinguished Contributions Awarded at the Closing Ceremony of Ninth ISRS

Yichang, China: Three outstanding Contributions to sediment studies through publications of their papers in the International Journal on Sediment Research, were Awarded in the Closing Ceremony of Ninth ISRS. These three papers for the prize were selected by the selection committee from 210 papers published in the International Journal of Sediment Research in the period 1999-2002.

The three contributions are:

1. Sediment Yield- Surface Topography Relationships for Selected Mississippi Soils by M. J. M. Romkens, K. Helming and S. N. Prassad - Vol. 15, No.1, 2000, pp.1-16

2. Diverting Seawater to Scour the Estuary ¨C A Quest for New Approach to Regulate the Lower Yellow River by Bingnan Lin, Jianjun Zhou and Ren Zhang-Vol.14, No.4, 1999, pp.1-9

3. Sediment Transport Experiments in Unsteady Flows by R. De Sutter, M. Huygens, and R.Verhoeven -Vol.16, No.1, 2001, pp.19-35

 

The International Journal of Sediment Research has become the most important journal in the field of sedimentation and erosion research.The International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) discussed Prof. C. Ted Yang's suggestion and decided to establish the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Sediment Research in 2001. Thence a selection committee has been organized. And the committee consists of 9 members:

 

 

 

 

Graf, W. H. from Switzerland; Guo, Junke, from Singapore; Takahashi, T. from Japan; Walling, D. E.,from UK; Wan, Zhaohui,from China; Wang, Sam S. Y.,from USA; Wang, Zhao-Yin,from China; Wang, Zhengbing,from the Netherlands; and Wu, Baosheng,from China.

The journal has become the journal of the World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research and the prize has become the scientific paper prize of the association as well. This prize is to provide international recognition for distinguished contributions to the sediment studies through original and illuminating research papers published in the International Journal of Sediment Research (IJSR).
